The objectives of this article are as follows: 1. To develop Chanthaboon mat products within the mat weaving group in Chanthaburi Province, in accordance with the concept of the handicraft industry. 2. To transfer skills in producing Chanthaboon mats to the mat weaving group in Chanthaburi Province. This research adopts a mixed methods approach, utilizing both document analysis and data collection from group discussions. The aim is to gather information on the context of the reed mat weaving groups, specifically the Samet Ngam village group, Ban Tha Chalaep Group, and Bang Sa Kao Group. Data is also collected from related documents and research. The study targets two groups: three product design experts tasked with evaluating Chanthaboon mat product styles based on the industrial handicraft concept, and a representative sample of members from the Chanthaboon mat weaving group in Chanthaburi Province. This sample consists of 12 individuals who are interested in participating in product development and enhancing their skills in the production of Chanthaboon mat products.
The results of the research revealed the following: 1. The context of the Chanthaboon mat weaving group predominantly featured uniform product formats with a limited quantity of reeds. Leftover reeds from the production of large-scale products prompted a desire to create more advanced products and explore the combination of Chanthaboon reed mats with other materials. In the process of reed mat development, the researcher designed products based on issues identified during interviews, in conjunction with design guidelines for industrial handicraft products. As an outcome, a shoulder bag designed to utilize leftover mats from Chanthaboon mat production in the community was created. Evaluation by product design experts indicated that the model was of good quality. 2. In the realm of skills transfer in Chanthaboon mat production, observations from a workshop focusing on bag production using Chanthaboon mats revealed the appropriateness of the knowledge transfer content. The average was 4.17 (S.D.= 0.09) The average knowledge level before training was 3.17 (S.D.= 0.39) The average knowledge level after training was 4.67 (S.D.= 0.49).
